BOOKISH KINDLE COVER
I’d had the old case on my kindle since being given my kindle paperwhite in 2017, and the case was in a really poor state through daily use – creased, ripped and with questionable detritus in the creases and folds. I thought it was about time I got myself a new one. But, there were so many to choose from. It seemed like such a daunting task.
Once I’d worked out which model my kindle was – apparently not all cases fit all models – I spent a good couple of hours looking at designs. I figured a simple option was best, but couldn’t decide what I wanted on it, until it dawned on me. Books, you silly arse! Of course, it should have books on it! I’d had a cover for my original kindle in the style of an old Penguin classic book years ago, which I’d loved, but it was bigger than the kindle, which had needed to be stuck in to it – not very efficient or portable, which had mattered in those days. So, a simple design, with books, to fit my 2017 model. How hard could it be? Surprisingly, there weren’t that many that looked like they were well designed and had decent reviews, but there was this one; and, it was a very reasonable price! I purchased and waited …
Within 48 hours, that little brown envelope of joy arrived, and I was very impressed. Looking exactly as described, the cover fits my kindle paperwhite perfectly – it just slots into the back of the case. When you open the front cover, the kindle turns on automatically, and you just need to scroll up to go to where you left off. It has a magnetic clasp, to prevent to front cover opening, and a hand slot which can be used easily with either hand when you turn the front cover back on itself.
The cover was an absolute bargain at just £12.67 and I’ve been using it almost daily for 3 weeks. The only other feature I’d add is an extra magnet so that when the front cover is folded back on itself in use, it grabs to the back of the kindle; useful for those of us that are left-handed and read in bed or on the sofa and hold our kindles above us. If you hold your kindle in your right hand, you’re likely holding on to the right hand side of your kindle to go on to the next screen anyway, but left hand holders may flick on the left hand side of the screen to turn the page, and getting walloped in the face with a kindle hurts! Having said that, I’d still highly recommend as I’ve only done it once!
